Tuesday 8th May 2012 (8.00pm) The University Of Wales Newport, Caerleon, NP18 3QT It's all been happening here in Wales since the last branch meeting, with the recent NADJ AGM held in Newport back last Sunday, the dust is just settling were already intro May and it's time for yet another branch meeting to be put together by your elected branch Committee. Justin, Paul, Brian and Peter met up on Thursday 26th April to make plans for some of the forthcoming meetings. You may have noticed that Mark Wellers was missing from this list of attendees. He was suffering from some mystery 24 hour bug and Mark failed to make the planned meeting, so the rest of your committee planned for this event in his absence. It is planned to reduce the meeting business to a minimum in order to maximize the time for networking opportunities, educational content and equipment reviews. We will provide just a brief summary of the minutes of the last meeting. Long-standing and active NADJ Wales member, June Gould, will be presenting her members show for us and we also have these items on the agenda: Equipment Comparison- Please bring along your best Radio Microphone for inclusion in the next in our program of comparisons tests. - The latest new equipment – Alan Thomas from Zelma Sound & Lighting (www.discogear.com) will be reviewing the latest bits of kit that should be on our shopping lists!

The next National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) Wales Branch meeting takes place on Tuesday 13th March 2012 (8.00pm). The event is being held in The Board Room, The University Of Wales Newport, Caerleon, NP18 3QT It seems an age since our last branch meeting here in Wales and that because it is! You may recall that there was no meeting in February as we hosted the New Year Social at the Holiday Inn back in early February. So it’s back to some sort of normality for this meeting, we hope you can make it! Expect many of the usual features and characters, here is just some of what is happening: - New Feature- 'The Elevator Pitch' - a ten minute introduction to you and your skills and services.
- Educational Presentation- 'Selling Your Services' - the effective approach to dealing with enquiries, presented by Darren Ganderton.
- The latest equipment previews and demonstrations (what's new in the toy shops).
- Special offers - from our Wales Supporting Retailer- Zelma Sound & Light (www.discogear.com).

A massive thank you to all of the attendees of the NADJ Wales Social Night on Sunday 5th February 2012 and the organisers for making it such a fantastic night at the Holiday Inn in Newport. Pictured above is Jean Lockwood who won the raffle prize of a selection of Mastermix Grandmaster CDs and a highly sought-after Tidy Bunny (a relation of the well-known Jive Bunny) with Dan Essex. The Wales branch members were joined by the NADJ Committee and other DJs from across the UK. We had the pleasure of Dr Helen Lee who opened up her Social Networking Clinic, so that she could advise our members on how to use and maximise the potential of promoting their business through sites like Facebook. |

A Christmas Message "May I take this opportunity firstly to wish a very merry Christmas to you and your families on behalf of myself and the NADJ Wales Committee: Justin, Paul and Brian. I trust that you will all find some time for peace and rest over the busy festive period and having put away those Christmas hits for another 11 months, you will then be looking forward to 2012." Mark Weller NADJ Wales Branch Secretary New Years Eve Availability The focus now seems to be who is free on New Year’s Eve. So don't forget to update your availability because if you are free, someone out there may be desperate for your services! If you've not already contacted me to add your availability, please do so as soon as possible, time is very limited. New Year Social Event (Sunday 5th February 2012) We have some exciting plans in place for the New Year! The NADJ Wales Party will be held at The Holiday Inn at The Coldra, Newport, NP18 2YG. DJs and their partners going to join us from all over the country. We will have the full NADJ National Committee at this event because there will be a National Executive Committee meeting the following day at The Holiday Inn. |

Urgent message from Mark Weller: "Tomorrow's scheduled meeting (Tuesday 29th November) was to be held at the premises of Zelma Sound & Lighting. However, our arrangements have had to be changed at very short notice due to the unexpected and serious illness of a close, young family member of our host Alan Thomas. I know that many of you were looking forward to the opportunity to visit Alan and look at all the latest bits of kit and in many cases make purchases, however this ‘Rain Check’ is unavoidable under the circumstances. I feel sure many of you will be now be visiting Alan over the next few weeks. We wish Alan and his family all the best in this difficult time for them."
Alternative Pre-Christmas Supper Gathering An alternative get together has now been arranged at Peachy Keens (World Buffet) Restaurant, 62/65 Bridge Street, Newport NP20 1AZ (01633 262 222) in order for those who wish to attend to maintain networking opportunities ahead of what is shaping up to be a challenging festive period. |
