With our disco we attend 10 - 12 wedding fayres a year. If you call the managers from the hotels direct you will find they will often sell you a space at the fayre a lot cheaper than some of the appointed organisers. This also gives you a chance to show them what you can do and offer to help out the hotel functions or if they have been let down. Also ask the organisers if they need a P.A for any fashion shows they are doing then you can provide some equipment in exchange for a free space. Hopes this helps.

I did two fairs for the first time. The one that only cost me £50 to attend (but was about 15 miles away from home) got me two wedding and a birthday booking(so more than covered its cost). The other cost £280 and should have been even busier and just down the road. I got one prom night from it but that was it. I think the difference was the people at the cheaper wedding fair seemed more serious about it and were out to book things. The expensive one just seemed to be full of people just looking.
I have booked the £50 again for later in the year. - Stephen Bielby

Couldn't agree more with the comments above. I have now hosted The Fabulous Wedding Show in Scotland several times for the organisers and it is a great way to let potenial clients see you in action. It also confirms your a true professional.

Some great advice there - I think the trick is attending the events that will be well attended - the are some wedding fairs that do not attract enough traffic which can make for a long day!
