Don't Take Any Chances With Your Membership Subscriptions Or Your DJ Business
Don't Take Any Chances With Your Membership Subscriptions Or Your DJ Business
Following a recent phone call from a DJ, we'd like to highlight that if you let your membership subscriptions to the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) lapse, we cannot backdate your membership to the original expiry date (or any other date for that matter).  DJs who let their subscriptions lapse lose all benefits of membership (including Public Liability Insurance, Employers Liability Insurance, web hosting and the copies of Pro Mobile magazine) when their subscriptions come to an end and they have not renewed.

We received a call from an anonymous number asking if a DJ who let their subscriptions to the Association lapse could have it backdated.  We can't be sure why someone would ask for their membership to be backdated but it we felt it was a very unusual request and it warranted an update to our members.  We asked why they wanted it backdated and they said that it was because they'd forgotten to renew.

This phone call also follows an update from one of the companies that offers members of the NADJ a discount on their PAT testing.  The owner of that company said that a DJ, who was NOT a member of the NADJ, had contacted him to carry out PAT testing on his DJ/disco equipment and the appointment was ready to be booked in, until the DJ asked if the testing could be backdated as there had been an incident at a recent event and a guest had contacted him for his insurance details.

Obviously, the PAT tester refused to backdate the paperwork he supplies and turned the work down.  He explained that it would be unprofessional to provide inaccurate documents with a PAT test date that was not the actual date of testing.  He was then shocked to be asked if he knew of a PAT tester who would provide documents with the wrong test date on them.  He emphasised that any professional PAT tester would not carry out that request and he could not recommend someone who would do that.

So, please remember that we cannot backdate membership subscriptions and advanced renewals will carry on for one year from the date of expiry.  Members who let their subscriptions lapse will have their membership start again on the day of processing only.
