NADJ Scholarship 2015 - And The Award Goes To...
The NADJ Scholarship has been awarded to...
It's the season for awards - we've just had the glitz and glamour of the Academy Awards, the Grammys took place at the beginning of the month and tonight (Wednesday 25th February 2015) Ant & Dec take on the challenge of hosting the BRIT Awards.  However, there is one award that has got many DJs eager to find out the result and, without blowing our own trumpet, that's the accolade of being named the NADJ Scholar.
Mark Walsh (BPM) and Eddie Short (Pro Mobile magazine) spent considerable time going through all the high calibre applications and they whittled the entries down to a small selection.  That was then refined again until they came to a conclusion as Eddie explains: "Overall, the standard of applications was really good and we were encouraged by the quality and detail included in the answers. It was really hard to get it down to one ultimate winner however we are sure that we have chosen well and the winner will embrace the prize package whole-heartedly."
So, in true awards ceremony style: And the award goes to... Iggy Davis of Iggy Events!

The NADJ Chairman, Alan Marshall, said that he was ecstatic at the calibre of entries: "Many congratulations to Iggy from the team of volunteers at the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ)!  We know from the glowing report on your NADJ Scholarship application (below) that you are sure to use all the different parts of the programme to the full potential of your performances and your DJ business."
The judges outlined their reasons for Iggy (pictured right) ticking all of their boxes as Mark said: "'Iggy stood out as a recent convert to full-time mobile DJing.  He has used New Enterprise grants to help build his business and has also invested in books, DVDs and training to help build his business. He cites the NADJ as helping raise his personal standards.
"His outlook is 100% positive and his application really hooked both Eddie and I with his determination to make his business work. There was no one stand-out reason why Iggy should win, however, he was one of the only applicants that seemed to have covered the whole package.  He seems to be in control of all aspects of his business. We really look forward to welcoming Iggy to the Pro Mobile Conference," said Mark.
As it was such a tough call on which DJ would be awarded the NADJ Scholarship, Mark and Eddie decided that they would award a Special Commendation to one of the other applicants, as Mark explains: "We have also decided to award a commendation to one applicant who we will give an additional Sunday Delegate place to the Pro Mobile Conference. It was a really close call at the top!"
The Special Commendation award goes to... Charlie Rogers of SLS Discos!
Charlie Rogers of SLS Discos  The judges felt that Charlie showed all the signs of becoming a highly successful DJ: "Charlie is a young DJ, but at 17 or 18 years old you would honestly think you were reading the application of someone a lot older.  His attitude is great and he's really keen to carve out a career as a full-time Mobile DJ. Charlie has been DJing for three years and has learnt so much in this short time
"We really felt that we wanted to reward Charlie for his professional approach and attitude to success," said Eddie.
As a gesture of thanks to all the applicants who entered the NADJ Scholarship and for them putting together such comprehensive submissions, Mark and Eddie have offered them a £50 discount on attending the Pro Mobile Conference (8th - 9th March 2015) as a Full Delegate.  The NADJ will contact all the applicants by e-mail with information on that kind offer.
NADJ Scholarship 2015 - And The Award Goes To...  Congratulations, once again, to Iggy and Charlie and our sincere thanks to Mark and Eddie for taking on the challenge of being our independent assessors.  We would also like to thank all the applicants who spent considerable time putting their case forward to be awarded the NADJ Scholarship for 2015.
