Don't Take Any Chances With Your Membership Subscriptions Or Your DJ Business
Don't Take Any Chances With Your Membership Subscriptions Or Your DJ Business
Following a recent phone call from a DJ, we'd like to highlight that if you let your membership subscriptions to the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) lapse, we cannot backdate your membership to the original expiry date (or any other date for that matter).  DJs who let their subscriptions lapse lose all benefits of membership (including Public Liability Insurance, Employers Liability Insurance, web hosting and the copies of Pro Mobile magazine) when their subscriptions come to an end and they have not renewed.

We received a call from an anonymous number asking if a DJ who let their subscriptions to the Association lapse could have it backdated.  We can't be sure why someone would ask for their membership to be backdated but it we felt it was a very unusual request and it warranted an update to our members.  We asked why they wanted it backdated and they said that it was because they'd forgotten to renew.

This phone call also follows an update from one of the companies that offers members of the NADJ a discount on their PAT testing.  The owner of that company said that a DJ, who was NOT a member of the NADJ, had contacted him to carry out PAT testing on his DJ/disco equipment and the appointment was ready to be booked in, until the DJ asked if the testing could be backdated as there had been an incident at a recent event and a guest had contacted him for his insurance details.

Do You Still Buy The 'Now That's What I Call Music' (NOW) Releases? Let Us Know!
Do You Still Buy The 'Now That's What I Call Music' (NOW) Releases?

The latest incarnation from the long running compilation series from Sony Music/Universal Music Operations Limited is out on Monday 24th November 2014.  We are, of course, talking about the 'Now That's What I Call Music' or NOW series of CDs that got the nickname of being the 'DJ Bible' of albums.  The latest one being NOW 89.

Once over the NOW albums formed a vital part of a DJ's music collection, but with the advent of instant access to songs via legitimate digital music providers, including DJ Only suppliers such as MastermixCD Pool and DMC, do DJs still buy the releases?  Or is it easier to use a subscription based service from a DJ Only music supplier and then top up on new releases as they come out?

Well, we like to encourage a bit of interaction with DJs, so head over to the NADJ Facebook Page and tell us if you keep buying the NOW albums or if you now use other legitimate sources of music to keep your collection up to date?  Are you a DJ who still likes to keep their NOW collection going and find that you have all or most of the songs on the release, but you still get it to keep that collection going?  Are you using CDs and will continue to buy the albums on that format?

10% Discount For NADJ Members At The Music Station In Swansea
10% off at The Music Station for members of the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) when you present your membership ID card in store.
Some of the representatives from the NADJ Wales branch attended a recent open night at The Music Station in Swansea and they were given a very warm welcome by the management of the shop.  The team had a little bit of space reserved for a banner and were on-hand to answer any questions about the Association.  They also left with some great news for DJs in the Swansea area because Roger Parsons from The Music Station has offered a 10% discount to our members on presentation of your valid NADJ membership card.

The store caters primarily for musicians, but they have a great selection of high quality sound and lighting equipment that DJs may want to see or hear in action.  The team also know about the products they sell: "The shop, is staffed by people who understand what is required at all levels of entertainment.  Chris, Nicky and Steve are all working artists and their advice is second to none.  You are also welcome to try out the gear live in the shop and chose the best sound for your individual needs by comparing the various packages," - The Music Station website.

The Music Station is a family run business which was started in 1979 in Porthcawl by Roger Parsons. In 1985 they opened in Swansea in Oxford Street and were known as the Yamaha Music Centre.  They then expanded to the Enterprise Park in 1989 as The Music Station and have been in the current showroom since then.  Roger and his daughter, Karan, run the business and the store is also staffed by dedicated and keen musicians who understand customers needs and they pride themselves on great after sales service and can always aim to give their customers the highest quality attention at all times.
