| North East Branch Meeting (November 2010) |
|
Houston... we have lift-off! We are going to give it a go and we are starting up a North East branch of the National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ).
The cost is free although we may have a 'domino card' or raffle to pay for nibbles provided - we are not making any money from this and we have secured the room for free. Before you stop reading – this is not just for NADJ members. These meetings are open to all. There will be a quick 15 minute presentation about the NADJ and benefits attached, and you are very welcome to join, however there is no pressure whatsoever and we will NOT be constantly touting for you to join. We have had quite a few social gatherings this year and the idea of starting up regular 'structured meetings' have been discussed, so we thought we would give it a go. If anyone has been to a meeting before you will know of the tremendous benefits and knowledge they bring together, along with a good night out. So far the agenda has yet to be finalised and I will be honest in saying I don’t think any of us were ready for some of the obstacles we have faced in the North East. What Happens Next? We are looking to formalise a branch with a Committee. This takes a minimum of three NADJ members who are committed and are able to dedicate a small amount of time to organise these gatherings. Don’t be afraid if you have not been involved so far – if you feel you can succeed on the Committee let us know, the last thing we want is to be seen to be cliquey. The main objectives are to find out what DJs in the area want from these meetings. The only rule we have so far is that there will be NO talking about pricing. Once a pricing conversation starts it takes over. We hope the meeting will help people to learn and make their own choices about pricing. We hope to have a wide range of DJs from the club/pub DJs to established wedding DJ’s – again ALL are welcome. Agenda
