| South Wales Branch - AGM 2010 |
|
The South Wales branch of NADJ held its AGM on Tuesday 9th March 2010 at the University of Wales Campus at Caerleon and it was a successful night. The business of the Annual General Meeting was conducted swiftly before we moved on to other matters of interest. The new Committee for 2010 is as follows:
I would like to convey our thanks to the retiring Committee members: Darren Ganderton and June Gould for their work over the last 12 months. The educational content on Tuesday night was provided by myself under the heading "Keeping the Customer Satisfied" and covered the thorny issues of play lists and meeting clients expectations as a consequence of careful research prior to their event. The toys sent along for review included a range of the latest laser products demonstrated by Justin Banwell and sent along by Alan Thomas from Zelma Sound & Light. There were some impressive items included and some DJs present will now be busy saving for forthcoming purchases in addition a few orders for products that Justin will be passing on to Alan. The traditional Quiz was set by June Gould and proved most thought provoking and educational with many present learning new trivia facts from the history of pop music and DJ’ing. I was piped to the win by Paul Thompson who proved the boffin of the night. The dates to be noted for forthcoming meetings and events are as follows-
I regularly get to hear the excuse that "I missed the meeting as no one let me know it was on," and I find this hard to understand. Meetings are always held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month (with exception of the December meeting, for obvious reasons). Why not put these dates into your diary now so you don't forget! The branch has now purchased an inexpensive pay as you go mobile phone so that we can send out bulk text reminders of meetings in addition to the e-mails (that many do not get). This will hopeful help to ensure you are kept up to date with meeting venues and content. Please note that the National AGM & Tradeshow is just around the corner and is this year even closer to our homes in South Wales, so there should be little excuse for not making the attempt to attend this year. It should prove a great day out for any DJ and also for their family because there is an adventure park as part of the complex. For further details on exhibitors, seminars and activities please check out the websites: www.nadjtradeshow.com and www.thebarnfunctioncentre.co.uk The new 2010 South Wales Branch Committee is made up of experienced DJs who are committed to the success of the branch and who are passionate about the advantages of NADJ membership. We have all gained huge personal benefit from our involvement since the formation of the South Wales Branch, making new friendships with like-minded individuals, increasing our workload through networking and increasing fees and earnings as a consequence of increased business and performance skills. I hope that the branch can now look forward to your support for the forthcoming year and that we can again look forward to achieving sustained growth of our businesses and the branch.
